I Made (Another) New Channel!
New channel here: @OptimizedTesla
Optimized DIY channel: @OptimizedDIY
Yes, I made another UA-cam channel because I did need a new vehicle and I couldn’t help myself with a car company basically giving away free money with that 0.99% APR financing offer so I ended up somewhat impulsively pulling the trigger on a Tesla Model Y, and do you really own a Tesla if you don’t have a UA-cam channel about it? I thought long and hard about possibly just including the new Tesla videos on my Optimized DIY channel, but I think I want to keep that one for broader car and home stuff, while this new one will focus on this one specific vehicle, and I suspect the DIY subscribers probably aren’t super interested in a lot of videos that will focus on a specific Tesla car, and vice versa. I’m basically going to be using this as a project car to do a lot of modifications and experiments on, many of the lessons from which should carry over to other non-Tesla vehicles as well. It will also be more of a 2-way conversation and I’ll be sort of learning as I go along, because while I do know a fair amount about cars in general, I don’t know a ton about the software and technology of electric and self-driving cars specifically, and this thing is basically an iPad with wheels. So if you’re curious and you find yourself in this overlap of finance and Tesla, a like and subscribe over there would be a huge help. The channel is appropriately named Optimized Tesla. And if you’re part of the tiny audience of probably 10 people who are subscribed to all 3 of these, obviously thank you very much, but also let me know in the comments because we would probably be great friends. As always, thanks for all the support.

    The only Fidelity MM fund I really wanted to know about and the only one that may have a real difference is FDLXX, which is a pure play US treasuries only fund. I've heard that this fund may not be subject to Federal or state tax (not sure which one) but I haven't been able to confirm this for certain. If you can post some information about FDLXX that would be great.

    • @OptimizedPortfolio
      @OptimizedPortfolio 2 дні тому

      Hey Chris, interest from FDLXX would be subject to federal income tax but would be exempt from state income taxes. This is the case for all US Treasury bonds and by extension, any fund that exclusively holds US Treasury bonds such as FDLXX and SGOV.

      @@OptimizedPortfolio Thanks! I've also noticed that FDRXX has a lower expense ratio than all the others, 0.38% vs. 0.42%. I'm not sure why this is but it doesn't seem to make any real difference in it's overall performance as compared to the others assuming that the stats shown by Fidelity are including fees.

    • @OptimizedPortfolio
      @OptimizedPortfolio 2 дні тому

      Yea there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason as to the different expense ratios Fidelity impose on these various funds, and they seem to change often. What may be a more useful comparison in this context is just to look at that 7-Day Yield aka SEC Yield, which is the fund's yield net of all fees.

    You missed the second most important part of the strategy: when you are in or out of an asset. The strategy uses a 200 day sma for each asset to determine if you are in or out of an asset. If an asset is below its 200 sma it’s left in cash. You go back into the asset when the price moves above the 200 sma. This check is usually done monthly.

    Idk if this is a weird question but if it says 0-3 month short term bond, does that mean I can only hold it for that long for does it matter how long I hold it

      Not a weird question. That just means that's the maturities of bonds that fund holds. You can certainly hold the fund for as long as you want, longer than that time. The fund is buying and selling those bonds for you inside it.

    What would happen if somebody maxed out their CC on T-Bills?

    • @OptimizedPortfolio
      @OptimizedPortfolio 12 днів тому

      Not sure why you'd ever do that. Can't buy securities with a CC, so it would require a cash advance, which makes the whole thing illogical.

    @OptimizedPortfolio could you do a video covering international bond funds? What are the best options for total international bonds (e.g., BNDX, but is there an unhedged option?), emerging markets debt, and international treasuries?
